The Pear Tree Centre in Halesworth has organised an eight-week cookery club based on Rosedale Funeral Home’s Cooking for One book.
Each week they choose a recipe from Cooking for One and then prepare it – cooking and eating together. The participants have found comfort in being with others who are also alone.
“Loneliness is a huge issue when you have been bereaved,” says Simon Beckett-Allen, author of Cooking for One and director of Rosedale Funeral Home. “The joy of cooking, chatting and eating together has bonded the group and firm friendships are being formed.”
For more information and to find out when the next cookery club course is being held, please contact The Pear Tree Centre on 01986 899655.
About Cooking for One
A collection of recipes and stories written by the bereaved offering wisdom, insight, love and hope.
Over the years of running bereavement support groups, we have learned at Rosedale that many people who have lost a partner find it difficult to prepare meals for just one person and the importance of food and cooking can diminish.
All profits from sales of Cooking for One will be donated to Cruse Bereavement Care, whose work in supporting bereaved people in Norfolk and Suffolk is invaluable.
Cooking for One is available to purchase here on our website and from a number of local stockists.
