Cooking for One
A collection of recipes and stories written by the bereaved offering wisdom, insight, love and hope.
Over the years of running bereavement support groups, we have learned at Rosedale that many people who have lost a partner find it difficult to prepare meals for just one person and the importance of food and cooking can diminish.
In memory of my sister Sarah, chef proprietor of Beckett-Reid Catering, I am compiling a collection of recipes and stories that have been written by the bereaved, that does not shy away from the reality of grief and the dark place that it can take us, but will offer wisdom and insight, love and hope.
The book will include inspirational quotes, beautiful pictures and poetry as well as tips on self-care and wellbeing alongside guidance on shopping, preparing, cooking and storing food.
If you have a recipe and accompanying story that you are willing to share to support and inspire others as they navigate their grief journey, I would be delighted to hear from you. Please click the button below to share your story and recipe with us.
When a person you know and care about is bereaved it is hard to know what to say or how to help. My aim is that Cooking for One will be a thoughtful gift for a bereaved person to receive, encouraging them to cook to nourish themselves and, as time goes on to learn new skills in the kitchen and be inspired to share the food they have produced with others.
