Christian’s Rickshaw Challenge
9 October, 2019 - 28 October, 2019

Christian Fairbrother, one of the Funeral Directors at the Diss branch of Rosedale Funeral Home, is undertaking a huge challenge as part of the ‘My Ten Days’ initiative offered by the company.
Along with his wife Julia and friends Sam, Rob, Trish and Andrew, he will be driving across the tropical island of Sri Lanka on dirt tracks, through nature reserves, tea plantations and along the coast of the Indian Ocean in a 10.5bhp (198cc) 3 wheeled auto-rickshaw which is barely powerful enough to carry itself. The trip is a totally self funded venture, with whatever is raised going to charity. There is a requirement to raise a minimum of £1000, of which at least £500 goes to The Adventurists official charity ‘Cool Earth’. Whatever else is raised will be going to support ‘Brain Tumour Research’ which is a very personal choice for Julia whose younger sister Susan died as a result of a brain tumour in December 2010. Currently only 1% of national spending is allocated to this devastating disease.
‘For each team there is no set route, no back up, no way of knowing if you are going to make it!’ Christian said, ‘the only certainty is that we will get lost; we will most probably get stuck somewhere; and we will more than likely break down, but we will be safe in the knowledge that we will be helping to save a little bit of the world. Once again, thank you to Rosedale in supporting us to do something truly amazing, and helping us to hopefully make a difference to the lives of people affected by brain cancers.’
