Bereavement group to support local families

Award-winning, family-run Rosedale Funeral Home will be commencing a new bereavement group, starting in May and led by bereavement counsellor Vicky Goddard AD. Dip CP from Focused On and supported by qualified bereavement group facilitator Marion Baynton of Rosedale.

“There are many myths surrounding grief – that time heals all wounds and that you must bury your feelings and be strong for others” says Marion, “and people say that you have to let go and move on in your life, but they don’t tell you what you need to accomplish that.”

“Grief is the price we pay for loving. Everyone’s experience of grief is unique and there is no right or wrong way to grieve. In this group you will find people who care and understand what you are going through. The group is open to anyone who has lost a loved one – no matter how long ago or in what circumstances, and regardless of which funeral director was used – there’s no pressure to take part, if someone just wants to listen that’s fine.”

Marion said her work with bereaved families at Rosedale had prompted both herself and Vicky to set up the group: “Grief isn’t something that’s often discussed and it can be a huge relief for people to talk to others about their experiences.”

The group commences on Thursday 5th May and runs for 8 alternate Thursday from 10 am – 12 noon and is held in the Town Green Centre, Wymondham. For further information please contact Rosedale Funeral Home on 01953 601103
